Kamalalaya Digital Print popularly known as Studio Kamalalaya, commenced its operation in the year 1954 as a photography organization it was established by L/Sri H.L.Gupta. Today, Kamalalaya Digital Print is one of the renowned photography organization in West Bengal.
The organization indulged in the trading of photographic material in the year 1974 and it became one of the largest photo goods Dealer outside Calcutta in whole of West Bengal. Mr. Sunil Gupta, youngest son of Sri H.L.Gupta took over the organisation with the sudden demise of his father in the year 1974.
Mr. Gupta underwent a training programme organized by Kodak India Limited, Bombay (Now Mumbai) and thereafter he imported a state-of-the-art colour printing equipment from M/s Dust UK Ltd Surrey, England and it became the first colour photo printing unit outside Calcutta in whole of eastern India.
Subsequently, in the year 1985, with the advent of new technology, Mr..Gupta, visited Japan, for a course organised by M/s Noritsu, Koki Company ltd Wakayama and once again established the state-of-the-art QSS colour photo printing equipment commonly known as 45 minutes service.
It would not be out of context to mention that this was the only unit in whole of eastern India covering West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, UP & Orissa apart from one unit at Calcutta.
Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Gupta, chain of colour lab was established at Asansol-HQ, Raniganj, Durgapur, Burdwan & Suri and Bokaro.
With the threshold of new technology, the photography industry changed from optical to digital printing In the year 1992, the first Fuji Frontier digital photo printing lab was imported and Incidentally, Kamalalaya was the second unit in whole of Eastern India apart from Calcutta. Thereafter such units were established in all the locations as an up-gradation of technology.
Photography industry has been changing drastically with technology playing a major role in the changes and digital camera considered to be dream sometime back became a reality and gradually phased out the conventional camera which brought revolution to photography trade.
Wedding is an important event in India and is one of the most important occasions and celebrated in a memorable way the digital technology facilitated the concept of the theme Album with duplex printing. Maintaining the History of the Organization, the first Xerox 1000 press of the country was installed at Asansol and Kamalalaya Digital Prints once again became the first installation in whole of India. it is now equipped with most experienced designers, imported binding equipments facilitating flat photo books, blow – up and enlargements which is unique product backed up by expertise of more than 57 years in the photography industry.
